Abstract


Based on the discussion of sustainable agricultural development situation through out the world, sixteen index systems and four subsystems (resources and environment subsystem, production subsystem, economic subsystem and social subsystem) were set up in order to evaluate the sustainability of animal production system in Bijie. It was found that:(1) sustainability of animal production system is at medium level in term of economic subsystem and its development is relatively stable.(2) sustainability of production subsystem is very unstable, between at a weak level and a medium level in an overall trend.(3) social subsystem is at a sustainable level.(4) resources and the environment sub-system is at a weak level(5) from the general evaluation of sustainability, animal production system in Bijie prefecture is in a general state and with an unstable development.
