Abstract


The economics generally use TFP to represent the sustainable development. In the existing research to TFP, the identical question conclusion of articles mostly is inconsistent. This is because the model, the selection data and data processing method are different. Therefore the more objective statistical data and the more perfect method are need to survey TFP, which is significance. Malmquist is a new method of TFP, which is especially suitable for reaching TFP.On the premise of introducing the situation home and abroad, this article use data of Chinese state-owned and above scale non-state-owned industrial sectors during 1990-2003 and Malmquist to study the change of 36 sectors and industry TFP systematically. TFP decomposes for technological progress, technology efficiency, scale efficiency and pure technology efficiency to find the origin of TFP increasing.The major finding includes:(1) TFP was increasing, but not-continuously; (2) Technological progress has become the core driving force for TFP. The trend was undulate obviously, but the fundamental memorial continued increasing;(3) Technology efficiency was horizontal, which is one of the major factor to hinder TFP increasing, and the increasing and the lessening appeared alternately.(4) Scale efficiency improved little, but the gap was very big compared with the technological-change’s contribution to TFP;(5) Pure technology efficiency glided at present, which has caused inefficient technology efficiency, and it was the obstacle of TFP increasing. The results show that, the TFP contribution to industry has enlarged. Technological progress has become the most important driving force for TFP. So the increasing way of industry is changing to intensive type. Facing technology efficiency and especially pure technology efficiency coming down, we need to accelerate market-oriented reformation further.Then the intensive type will come ture.This article introduced Malmquist index and the DEA-like model into industry TFP study. Treatment of model data is mainly completed by Lindo and the Excel.
