Abstract

Accompanied by the accelerating process of globalization, international trade has become the main engine of the global economy. Since Adam Smith (1776) and David Ricardo (1817), regardless of the theory of free trade or protection of trade theory, international trade as an effective way to improve the world's growing wealth and national welfare level. Free development under the guidance of this principle of sustainable development, international trade can provide more advanced technology and efficient use of resources for environmental protection, but regardless of the natural environment and ecological carrying capacity of trade liberalization will lead to resource damage and the ecological environment pollution. In order to pursue the development of its economic strength, the developed countries have experienced growth and consumption patterns of excessive consumption of resources, Now, in many developing countries, especially in less developed countries, but also to develop the country's natural resources, exports of raw materials and primary products to develop their economies. This growing non-sustainable production and consumption activities have made the world's resources and environment to withstand a great deal of pressure, and the survival of mankind in a serious state. At the same time, the appropriate environmental protection measures will constrain the normal development of international trade. How to deal with the relationship between international trade and the environment has become the new issues facing the world. Implemented in China since the reform and opening up export-oriented development model of foreign trade, foreign trade played a significant role in promoting economic development, especially since China's accession to the WTO, the pace of development of the international trade is even more alarming. However, behind the rapid growth of China's foreign trade is based on the huge environmental pollution and resources destruction of the expense. China as the most populous country in the world is in a period of strategic transformation of the environment and development, how to achieve sustained and steady growth of China's foreign trade under the constraints of the natural environment, deal with natural environmental protection, foreign trade, economic development and harmonious the relationship between the social construction, has profound practical significance. Read the extensive literature on issues of international trade and the natural environment, I have summarized drawn: First, most scholars believe that trade liberalization is not the root cause of environmental degradation, restrictive trade means to resolve the problem of the natural environment will only add to environmental degradation cause further market distortions; Secondly, international trade will be influenced by the environmental policy, but the magnitude of this effect and range of scholars are divergent views; Finally, the majority of the literature supports the inverted U-curve hypothesis that a lower level of per capita income the case of the natural environment pollution with increasing income increased, per capita income increased to a certain level, the increasing demands of the people on the quality of the environment, economic structure clean-based industries have gradually shifted from pollution-intensive industries, the emissions of pollutants will be greatly reduced. In this paper, the theory of international trade and the natural environment analysis based on qualitative analysis of correlation of China's international trade and the environment, and on this basis, both quantitative analysis, drawn from the constraints of the natural environment of Foreign Trade and effective ways and means of sustainable development.
