Abstract


The central theme of this paper is to analyze the problems of intellectual property protection in enterprises from the perspective of knowledge management. In times which signified by knowledge economy, the knowledge has become key resource for corporation growth and social economy development. Consequently, the protection of intellectual property then becomes the top priority in the wave of globalization and national technological development. However, due to the late start of system construction of intellectual property in China, the study is relatively concentrated in a short period of time. Combined with the differences in study perspective and focusing points, the analysis on intellectual property in China is severely in shortage. Most related studies in China are focusing on the effect and significance of intellectual property protection or the brief introduction of results of foreign studies. By contrast, there is no systematic and practice-oriented study on how to use intellectual property protection and related policies within corporations.Knowledge management, as an area which has brought great limelight, is to create a motivation environment which can help people create, share, explore, storage, transfer the knowledge and gain competitive advantage. However, even though it has won emphasis from the scholars and corporations, there is still lack of analysis on the knowledge management process and application of intellectual property. Even in some corporations, employees have formed conflict between those two aspects.Therefore, this study is based on the background of increasing attention on intellectual property and knowledge management from state, regions as well as corporations. This paper is based on the comparisons and references to well-known business model of intellectual property, to analyze the matching pattern and improvement path. Taking corporations in Liaoning province as example, this study explores the problems and reasons of current corporation intellectual property. Furthermore, this study can expand the theories of intellectual property, and enrich the area of intellectual property protection. This paper is divided into five chapters as follows.Chapter 1 presents the main issues of this study and the background as well as the research methods. It demonstrates the necessity and significance of the study, and meanwhile explains the innovations of this study as well as its framework in study.In chapter 2, the author defines the definition and characteristics of knowledge management, intellectual property. Descriptions of knowledge management theories and its current development will also be given. Meanwhile, in this chapter, there is a review on the relation between intellectual property and economy development.Chapter 3 gives analysis and comparison of the foreign intellectual property protection pattern. Here the foreign ones refer to international corporations in developed countries like America, Japan and German. After the analysis of their pattern, references will be learnt from the perspective of corporations in Liaoning.Chapter 4 takes corporation in Liaoning as example, to analyze the current situation of intellectual property protection, problems and reasons, and hence to promote the importance of match intellectual property with knowledge management. In this chapter, process will be divided into knowledge create, knowledge share and knowledge application as well as problems occurred in knowledge management. The author also gives suggestions and solutions to intellectual property protection in Liaoning province.Hence, this chapter is the core one in study.Chapter 5 is used to drive conclusion and deliver constrains of this study as well as further prospects of related issues.In short, this study gives in-depth analysis of intellectual property protection in Liaoning province from the perspective of knowledge management, and also by reference to cases in famous corporations combined with the understanding of foreign developed countries experience. It provides the theoretical support and practical orientation to intellectual property protection system, and promotes requirements to governments function in the nutrition of national innovation capacity and economy development.
