Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) is right material for polishing with the characteristics of high melt point, hardness, durability, chemical stability, resistant to corrosion, etc. With the development of technology, more precision optical glass with large diameter is demanded, so the required amount increases more and more. However, current products are mainly imported with expensive cost, and it is not developed in domestic industries yet. The aim of this thesis is to invesigate the composites and fabricating process of polishing slurry scientifically and systematically. The contents are listed as follows:①Zr(NO3)4·5H2O and Fe(NO3)3·9H2O were used as starting material to prepare the Fe-doped ZrO2 powder using the co-precipitation, sol-gel and water-thermal methods. PXRD, SEM, TG/DSC and BET analyses and computation were carried out to analyse the properties, and the effect of different sintering temperature on the properties of ZrO2 was studied. Powder samples of comparison, product and material for polishing have been characterized by solid UV/Vis, PXRD, structural analysis, FTIR, electronic probe microscope analysis (EPMA) and particle size distribution (PSD) methods. The coherence of our own product and comparison sample is shown from a scientific point of view.②Stability of ZrO2 powder in water medium was improved with respect to different additives, the contents, ratio, and mutual influences of various physical and chemical properties. A suitable prescription and preparation technique of the polishing slurry is thus found. We also established inspection standards of qualified products.③Commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software (Fluent) was used to simulate the flow field of the reactor, and its 3D, VOF, and multiphase flow models were studied with a view of hydrokinetics variables and mechanisms in order to optimize the process.
