Abstract

This thesis attempts to provide a panoramic elaboration on the development of the chorus forms of Northern Shaanxi Folk Songs since the beginning of the 20th century, mainly from the three aspects of Northern Shaanxi Folk Songs, the Chorus Forms of the folk songs and the aesthetic effect that produced by that form. Moreover, the thesis puts forward several constructive suggestions in the light of its current development.While expounding, the thesis mainly covers three parts. The first part offers a brief introduction of the object of study, the methods to be used in doing the research, the theories and some narrative strategies.As the body part, the second part elaborates on three aspects. In the first, it provides a detailed exploration of the history, themes, classifications and features of the Northern Shaanxi Folk Songs, as well as its artistic style. Then it proceeds to discuss the chorus forms of the Folk Songs, through discussing some works of Northern Shaanxi Folk Songs and its current development, so as to provide a detailed description of the chorus forms of the folk songs. Elaborated from three aspects, this part mainly discussed the three stages of development:1. Provide the sound body based on the original song, melody part and the under--part melody are in the relationship of subordinate relationship.2. Based on the original song as material, then add the similar tunes, the creator can innovate and alter some parts like meter, tune and melody.3. Being dissatisfied with the material and tune of Northern Shaanxi Folk Songs,, the creator can also add some elements of other folk songs to the works. Based on the first and second parts, the last chapter moves to describe the Chorus Forms of the chorus forms, so as to conclude that the Chorus Forms of Northern Shaanxi Folk Song has grown from the Red Revolutionary Songs into a diversified form of art that represents the characteristics of the age, being an indispensible part of the popular New Folk Song Movement. In the last chapter, the thesis brings out several beneficial suggestions concerning the future development of the Chorus Forms of Northern Shaanxi Folk Songs.
