Abstract


Since the mid-19th century, with the constant development and expansion of the enterprises in economic society, corporate social responsibility began to receive widespread attention. Western countries had begun to research and study corporate social responsibility in different levels. This is of significance in both theory and practice. As the core of corporate social responsibility, corporate environmental responsibility has gradually become the hot issue of global concern. As the main part of economic society, the business activities of the enterprises is one of the most important reasons leading to environmental pollution. Encouraging enterprises to carry out environmental responsibility actively is the key to solving the problem of environmental pollution. To fulfill corporate environmental responsibility, on the one hand is the key to solving environmental sustainability; on the other hand is an inevitable trend of the pursuit of a social and corporate sustainability.In order to explore the condition of corporate environmental responsibility in China, to promote the development of their corporate environmental responsibility, and to alleviate the increasingly serious environmental problems, this paper states the pollution problems in China firstly. Pointing out that the issue of corporate environmental responsibility is one of most important reasons for the environmental pollution in China. Secondly, from the theory of corporate social responsibility and the perspective of Systemic Dialectics, we investigate the historical background of corporate environmental responsibility as a whole. This is good to understand the development laws of corporate environmental responsibility. Thirdly, describe the current situation of corporate environmental responsibility in China. And analyze the reason of the lack of environmental responsibility. From the standpoint of stakeholders, the lack of corporate environmental responsibility in our country is mainly related to enterprises, government and the public. In the end, through the case studies of developed countries and China, we find that domestic and foreign enterprises fulfill their respective environmental responsibilities from different levels and aspects. And thus, we can learn from them and promote the sustainable development of Chinese enterprises.From the perspective of stakeholders, we recognize that corporate environmental responsibility is not only a matter of enterprises. Enterprises have multiple stakeholders, including the government, the enterprises and the public. Thus, to strengthen the corporate environmental responsibility, we need the cooperation of the three parties.
