Abstract

In recent years, with the continuous development of flash memory technology , both in desktop applications or distributed computing trend to replace traditional mechanical hard disk drive (HDD, Hard Disk Drive) , flash-based solid-state drive (SSD, Solid State Disk) . However , in the enterprise applications entirely SSD to replace HDD as the the mainstream storage system device still has a long way to go . Taking into account the cost , performance, and reliability of the SSD , SSD and HDD combined with a hybrid storage system is feasible in practice . Proposed a hybrid storage systems - performance - reliability - a hybrid storage system ( PR -HSS Performance Reliablity - Hybrid Storage System ) , a compromise between the I / O performance and reliability , PR-HSS by a high-performance SSD and a traditional HDD storage mirroring data to ensure reliability , data after PR-HSS first of all I / O requests will be redirected to the SSD , then according to your specific backup strategy to asynchronous data from SSD backup to HDD. In order to weaken or hide the delay overhead of the copy data , the use of an I / O window to absorb the write request and maintenance of an I / O request queue collection of metadata , the request queue is ordered , and this can reduce the HDD Alerts Road time and improve overall system performance . In order to adapt to different I / O load, designed and implemented a dynamic adaptive strategy to balance the front - end application layer I / O requests , as well as back-end backup request. Linux operating system kernel , the PR-HSS, a prototype system and a comprehensive test with standard benchmark IoMeter , PostMark , and TPC -C . The results show that the IoMeter and the PostMark the load , PR-HSS with improved performance for RAID1 10 times the data reliability is just 2% lower . In addition, under the TPC-C test program , PR-HSS performance and not be raised , but to meet RAID1 HDD consisting of more large-scale data set . By using the entropy theory of IoMeter, PostMark and TPC-C I / O load time request sequence analysis found sudden , TPC-C relative to the IoMeter PostMark have more free time to let the PR-HSS background backup .
