Pursuit of health is the eternal goal of human birth. Defined negatively, health is the absence of illness, functionally, as the ability to cope with everyday activities, or positively, as fitness and well-being. It can be said that one of the goals to holiday travel is to pursuing health. Holiday travel emerged in 1990s in China, more and more people choose the holiday travel for leisure, fitness, recuperation, entertainment or a short holiday. And now, the theme of health has become a major tourist route.Health tourism resort is based on healthy tourism resources, and is to meet the health needs of different consumer groups, so we can not copy the other tourist resort’s development and construction model in the planning. And this article tries to analyze the characteristics of health tourism resort area, analysis planned countermeasures of health tourism resort. Tourist resort such as the value of special features, in-depth study of its planning strategy to guide such development and construction of tourist resorts, is of greatpractical significance and theoretical value.This paper picks health tourism resort area as the research object, in accordance with thetheoretical research—basic research—strategy research—case study research ideas, accords to traveldemand theory, the theory of tourism system, anthropological theory, tourism theory of sustainable development, summarize the type of health tourism resort, and then analyze resort resource characteristics, functional characteristics, spatial characteristics and morphological characteristics of health tourism. Then combined with the development of health tourism resort status and practical experience of health tourism resort, it analyze planning problems of the health tourism resort.In the core of the paper, the author discusses strategies for the planning of health tourism resort, including ecological protection strategy, functional area strategy, spatial distribution strategy, landscape strategy and marketing planning strategy.Finally, it expounds these strategies by the example of related practiced projects.
