Abstract

The Piezoelectric materials have been widely used in engineering practice for its characteristics of piezoelectric effect. However, due to its low toughness, high sensitivity to defects, there are inevitably present of inclusions, holes and other defects and dislocations inside of piezoelectric materials during its process of preparation and use. These deficiencies affect the electromechanical coupling property of piezoelectric materials to large extent, and limit its further more application. In this paper, be based on the theoretical framework of the evolution of material microstructure, we have studied the influence on creep characteristics of piezoelectric material containing an elliptical inclusion and on migration status of the inclusion (or hole) inside of the piezoelectric body with the changes of geometry, material properties and volume fraction of the elliptical inclusion (or hole), those provide a theoretical basis for the designs and preparation of smart control elements that used of piezoelectric materials. In this paper, we have studied the piezoelectric material containing an elliptical inclusion of the plane problem by use of complex function of the Faber series expansion method, and obtained the analytical solutions for the stress field, displacement field, electric field and electric displacement within the inclusion and inside of the piezoelectric matrix. Then based on the analytical solutions, we execute further study about the motion of the inclusion inside of the piezoelectric body and the influence exerted by the inclusion to the creep characteristics of the piezoelectric matrix. Finally, this paper describes the motion of the inclusion in piezoelectric body and the influence of the elliptical inclusion to the creep characteristics of the piezoelectric matrix under the coupling action of multi-field included mechanical load, electric fields and temperature fields. Studies have shown that with the role of temperature it not only accelerates the creep rate of the piezoelectric material, but also change the direction of its creep deformation; what more the greater change of the temperature, the faster of piezoelectric matrix creep rate, and the weaker its resistance to creep deformation.
