Abstract

SIP (Session Initiation Protocol Session Initiation Protocol) is an IP telephony signaling protocol proposed by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force). Starting with the SIP a standard proposal RFC2543 After several years of development of SIP used in 3G mobile communications and next generation network (NGN) core areas, also shows a huge advantage in the field of traditional VOIP. With the SIP by the 3GPP working group is defined as the signaling protocol of the third generation mobile communication system, so that the SIP protocol to be more and more attention. SIP is an application-layer signaling control protocol used to create, modify, and the end of the session attended by one or more participants. The transfer mode can better carrier-grade applications with Internet applications together, to break the traditional telecommunications business, the use of Internet-based criteria, to provide IP-based multimedia services, with a wide range of application prospects. At the same time, with the rapid development of embedded technology and network technology, embedded network communication devices such as smart phones, personal digital assistants and other applications more and more widespread. Embedded device as a network node or terminal should be able to in between the Internet and other communications networks to roam freely, only need to know the identity of a device (such as: E-MAIL address or phone number, etc.), you can accurately positioning of the device, and the multimedia service communications. In this context, how the SIP flexibility and good service can be integrated and applied to the embedded environment, so as to strengthen the communication of embedded devices, connections, sessions, and control operations, has become the focus of this study. This paper first introduces the Softswitch and NGN generation, development survey, reveal the background of the SIP protocol. Then briefly SIP development process, and the development and application of open source SIP stack of several representative made a simple comparison. Through in-depth study of the proposal by the SIP standard RFC3261, SIP protocol architecture, the syntax of the call flow as well as the message, the message constitute functional entities, followed by a brief two related agreements: SDP and RTP / RTCP. The demand for embedded device networking analysis and study of the SIP protocol, to discuss the possibility and necessity of Why embedded devices to implement the SIP protocol and SIP protocol applications on embedded devices. On this basis, we propose a new hierarchy-based SIP protocol stack implementations. Elaborate layers of the protocol stack in the program structure, design methods and process flow, highlighting the key technologies used. Then in the Linux environment, SIP source code program is compiled by and run successfully. A working model of the final design, testing, and satisfactory test results confirmed that the design of the protocol stack in achieving the various functions of the SIP protocol. The SIP protocol embedded in the application has a lot of potential, needs further research and exploration. SIP protocol in embedded systems at the end of this article, a summary and outlook.
