Abstract


Humanistic quality, as the dominant spirit of humans culture, refers to people’s comprehensive quality in humanity or the extent of humanistic development. A university’s humanistic quality is the core and soul of its culture, represents school’s connotation, shows its cultural tradition and characteristics, and at the meanwhile, it is a kind of spiritual fascination. Consequently, any of its improvements means a lot for the whole society’s harmony and development. And how to enhance college students’ humanistic quality is playing a more and more important role in today’s university education. In this paper, I attempt to analyze and participate in the college students’ humanistic education theoretically and practically in the view of a counselor. Besides the introduction and conclusion, the paper is divided into four parts.The first part explains the basic theory of humanistic education and its importance. From the view of humanistic connotation, it elaborated humanistic quality as a link to people’s wisdom, knowledge and personality. Humanistic quality’s core is humanistic spirit which is also the soul of university’s cultural value. Humanistic education and college education shares the same orientation, which not only promotes college students’ comprehensive quality, but also is indispensable to cultivate high quality talents.The second part elaborates the counselor’s role in the humanistic quality education for college students. Counselors as an important branch of university and college’s stuff are working at the front line. By creating a favorable environment through their daily work to urge the active and positive study of students. They are indispensable in colleges’ student work.The third part depicts the current situation and problems of college students and counselors in the humanistic education. Generally speaking, College Counselors’ have acquired higher academic level and are full of the innovative spirit, but there are still some problems to be solved urgently, such as ignorance of students, lack of humanistic quality and responsibility. While college students’ accumulation of humanistic knowledge is far from sufficiency and hoping to improve their own humanistic quality level.In the fourth part, how to do the concrete and detailed work of college students’ humanistic quality education is discussed. College counselors’ working focus is to cultivate students’ humanistic spirit but which is impossible until we built a reasonable selection and training system for college counselors as well as a rule to evaluate and reward their works. Finally the humanistic quality education is a time consuming work and we should innovate its content and methodology timely and constantly.
