Abstract


This article is a comparative study of the use of hedges in written English learners corpus-based research tasks in order to discover the similarities and differences between English learners of different native language background Hedges and. Hedges and the words that make expression becomes more blurred, the Hedges and use appropriate or not is a manifestation of the speaker Pragmatic Competence. Since since Lai Kefu was first proposed in 1972 the concept, Hedges extends to many disciplines, including semantics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, pragmatics. These studies are mostly based on The native language corpus for the study, for language learners second fuzzy limit language use is very limited research. Students' second language acquisition, language transfer will impact different mother tongue English learners in the use of Hedges What are the characteristics? Showed differences? Learners Hedges in their native language and English close the degree? learners Hedges and use their second language proficiency related to it? under the guidance of these problems, the author of this study. Firstly, according to two variables from the International English Language Learner Corpus (ICLE), the closeness of the mother tongue and English learners of English level, to select the six sub-corpus learners' native language: Chinese, Botswana, Russian Czech, German and Norwegian. Of Prince (1982) classification, the Hedges and divided into four categories, each category selected five of 20 most common Hedges and research. Then, these 20 words Hedges in six sub-corpus retrieval data. With SPSS software to analyze these data and summarized concluded. The study found the following: Hedges and the six countries of the English learners in some ways show the similarities view from each sub-corpus, four categories Hedges words arranged in accordance with the frequency the order is exactly the same, that is to say, Hedges and maximum use of these different mother-tongue English learners are Plausible Adaptor, Rounder, Attributor classified according to the closeness of the mother tongue and English, the closeness the higher Hedges higher frequency. Are: writing genre, language proficiency, language transfer, pragmatic migration of formal school education. Finally, a summary of research results, pointing out the inadequacies, and put forward a vision for the follow-up study.
