Abstract

Social stability is the prerequisite to advance reformation and development. That is to say, stable political and social circumstances are indispensable to promote social reformation and development. This is the basic experience drawn from the empirical practice of the Socialism with Chinese characteristics. The new session of the central leaders of the Communist Party of China has proposed the theory of building harmonious society, which does not only reveal the governance ideas advance with the times but also promote the conceptions of the social stability to a higher stage. The new conception of the "social stability under the backdrop of harmonious society" contains many innovative thoughts concerning the understanding and solution of the problems that threatens social stability. The new thoughts provide both theoretical and practical significances to deal with the important relationships between reformation, development and stability at present and in the future, to maintain the social order, to build a harmonious society, and to achieve a lasting and peaceful reign in our country.The first part of the thesis mainly expounds the basic contents of the conception of social stability under the perspective of harmonious society. Firstly, it discusses the backgrounds and intention of the theory of building harmonious society that is advanced by the new session of the core leaders of the Communist Party of China. The promotion of the harmonious society is aimed at solving the complicated social problems we are confronting at present. The advancement of the new theory indicates the governance ideas advance with the times, and it brings new perspectives and dimension to the conceptions of social stability. Secondly, this part gives an innovative interpretation of the relationship between social harmony and social stability, which is the main theoretical perspective and the core innovation of the thesis. Thirdly, this part also summarizes and analyses the fundamental contents and the thinking patterns of the "Conception of Social Stability under the Backdrop of Harmonious Society". The first part of the thesis lays general theoretical foundation for the later parts.The second part of the thesis is focusing on the issues about the social stability during building harmonious society. This part concentrates on introducing and analyzing the understanding of the trends of social stability, raised by the representative scholars in this realm, and the basis of their study and judgment.In addition, this part also introduces and paraphrases the opinions, concerning the situation of social stability, of the relevant leaders of the central committee of the Communist Party of China. The third part of the thesis analyses the main aspects that influence the social stability. This part does not only make a general analysis about the social problems and the aspects of the social scheme which influence the social stability, but also make selective analysis of the aspects of the social scheme which exert impacts on the social stability. The author of the thesis maintains that the brewing of some social problems (such as group incidents) that threaten the stability, and the severity of some social phenomena (such as the corruption committed by the officials) are closely related to the defects of the social system and mechanism. Thus, emphasis should be attached to solving the problems occur in the social scheme and mechanism during building harmonious society.The fourth part is based on the analysis of the third part, and it concentrates on building harmonious society via perfecting the social system and mechanism. The author points out that the maintenance of the dynamic social stability hinges on the further rectification of the relevant systems and mechanisms. It is necessary to perfect the income distribution system, and to complete the interests adjusting mechanism. It is indispensible to promote the construction of democracy and ruling with law, and to complete the mechanism of political manipulation. It is required to perfect the mechanism of social construction and administration, and to enhance the social construction and administration, consequently. It is also essential to complete the operating mechanism of maintaining the social stability, and to accomplish specific tasks well.The analytical perspective of this thesis is that, social harmony is the inherent relationship status of the society, the social stability is the explicit relationship condition of the society, and the inner harmony determines the outer stability. This thesis includes two main logic clues. The first one is that, the reverence and guarantee for the basic rights of citizens is the core to settle problems threatening social stability under the perspective of harmonious society. The second one is that, the defects of social system and mechanism is the underlying reason of the threats to the social stability, thus building harmonious society should attach emphasis on perfecting the social system and mechanism, so should settling the social problems which pose threats on the social stability. The chief characteristic of this thesis is the relatively tight bound of the theoretical and empirical analyses.
