Cooperative learning is a teaching and learning strategy is based on the group for the members in the form of collaboration with each other to learn . Primary and secondary education too much emphasis on competition , to the neglect of cooperation , students develop a distorted sense of competition and corresponding to the self-serving behavior . They will often establish a person's success on the basis of other people failed , lack of sense of cooperation . In today's world , cultivate the students' reading ability is very important , so the teaching of reading is an important part of teaching high school English , but unfortunately , today's reading teaching effect is unsatisfactory . In order to change to knowledge about practice -based methods of teaching reading , looking for a more effective high school English reading teaching methods , this study use cooperative learning to read . In English to learn the four basic skills - listening, speaking , reading and writing , reading in English teaching in China plays an important role . However , for a long time , the focus of the reading class is concentrated in grammar, syntax , word professors or translation of the text , the students became accepted knowledge \In this case , the English reading teaching need to be introduced for all students , is conducive to teaching students language practice activities in full swing - cooperative learning . In cooperative learning , group members formed a good atmosphere actively involved in learning activities , help each other , learn from each other and progress together , improve academic performance , interpersonal skills, enhance self-confidence and motivation . Cooperative learning is emphasized in the classroom student -centered , the small members cooperate with each other to complete learning tasks , from the teachers of the role of mentors and collaborators , seeks to promote mutual cooperation between teachers and students , life . In this paper , on the basis of the large number of theoretical studies , teaching practice in English reading teaching a teaching experimental study , the purpose is to verify the catalytic role played by the cooperative learning methods to improve students' English reading ability .
