Abstract


Based on the theories of exchange rate changes, balance of payments and international trade, this paper analyses constraints and general laws of exchange rate changes on international trade, with the combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Taking the examples of enterprises and the import and export amount of China to USA during 1999-2008, the real exchange rate as well as the data such as the GDP of China and USA in the same period, this paper discusses the impact of RMB exchange rate changes on trade structure and style of China-USA bilateral trade.Through the above analysis, we have the following conclusions:1. The RMB appreciation increases export prices of China while weakens the competitiveness of China in the international market;2. The government policies play a vitalrole in the import and export of enterprises; 3. Most of the surplus results from labor-intensive processing industry, and the development of China’s foreign trade depends on expanding domestic demand, adjusting the structure and promoting industry up trade; 4. There has co-integration relationship among China’s exports to the United States, GDP of America and the RMB exchange rate against the USD
