Abstract


Music education in quality education system in general colleges and universities is an indispensable part in cultivating general accomplishment of modern talents. But for some historical reasons, the popularization of music education began late in our colleges and universities. There are still some misunderstandings concerning teaching concept, target location and cognition in music education and still various problems in its practice, such as deficiencies in curriculum system construction, selection of teaching methods, equipping of music teachers, optimization of general teaching environment as well as organization and management of music education. This thesis is to analyze the current problems existing in music education in colleges and universities in terms of psychology, pedagogy, musicology and aesthetics and to propose ways to solve these problems. To achieve these goals, we need to analyze in theory the current situation in music education in our colleges and universities as well as in practice the development of policies and practice of music education in and abroad. We also need to sort and analyze previous documents and data and relate them to the author’s years of experience in teaching music in colleges and universities. This thesis involves the following sections. The first one is exordium:it describes the research background, research content, research methodology, technical route and present research status. The second section is a description of theories in music education:besides its aesthetic education function, it also functions in such aspects as intellectual education, edification, inheritance of social culture and organization. In this way, music education is consistent with quality-oriented education in theory. The third part is a description of the development course of music education in Chinese colleges and universities and reference of experience from music education abroad. It gives detailed information evolution of policies and practice in Chinese music education and puts forward some helpful suggestions for development of our music education in colleges and universities through the analysis of development of music education in developed countries. with all these basis, this paper analyzes the current situations in music education of general colleges and universities in China and then especially points out the problems in its implementation. The last section analyzes development countermeasures of music education in quality-oriented education system in Chinese colleges and universities and proposes some suggestions in such aspects as establishment of teaching target, curriculum design, teaching links, teaching staff construction, teaching environment, teaching method and administrative management, hoping to be helpful to the development of music education in Chinese colleges and universities.
