This paper is based on the survey of the causes for psychological fear in the support jump exercises among the high school boys of Shanghai Qibao High School, the interviews with several experts, senior high school teachers, all the PE teachers in Qibao and part of the surveyed students regarding the psychological fear causes and adjusting solutions and also the observation of two Qibao High School PE teachers for their teaching in their classes. The paper is aimed to understand and study the causes for the psychological fear of the students in their exercise of support jump so as to find the relevant adjusting solutions with practical experiences in order to enable a smooth and long run development of the support jump in the high school physical education.The survey shows that the causes for the psychological fear in the support jump exercises are driven by both internal and external factors. The internal factors include students’body not strong enough to handle the support jump in terms of techniques and skills;the lack of the knowledge and skills in support jump; students’week will in combating the difficulties and confronting the challenges in doing the support jump; negative influence by others like the classmates to make the students underestimate themselves. The external factors include the lack of spaces and facilities and also the improper setup and poor maintenance; the insufficient experiences of the PE teachers; the inappropriate assistance and protection from the teachers to students and also the students to students; the orientation bias in public opinions.In view of the above causes for the psychological fear, the followings are the findings on the adjusting solutions through practical research:Long-term approach:establish the correct guidance of public opinion and pay attention to the propaganda of sports culture; improve the teacher staffing and implement reasonable class division; improve the teaching environment and relevant sports facilities; improve the teachers’ education quality by adopting professional trainings; be student oriented, cultivate students’ good will, strengthen their learning ability in sports, make them keep physical exercises and pay attention to students’ sustainable development.Short-term approach (interaction between students and teachers and combating the difficulties task by task):teachers shall be more dedicated to students and learn more about their learning capability for support jump; teachers shall be well prepared in teaching kit and understand more in the difficulties and challenges in the support jump and allocate reasonable analysis in destruction of the problems and integration of solutions; teachers shall present appropriate explanation and demonstration, also offer comments and encouragement to students in proper time; teachers shall implement reasonable teaching approaches; teachers shall use more reasonable and effective assistant teaching tools; sufficient equipment of the relevant spaces and facilities shall be ensured; students shall have a full understanding of the jump techniques and skills; students shall establish the confidence in doing the support jump; students shall improve their self conscious to protect and help each other and also improve the capability in this regards; students shall strengthen their knowledge of skills in support jump and enhance their physical fitness.
