Abstract

The most important factors in neonatal’s growth and development are nutrientsuptake and utilization and the regulation of a variety of hormone and cell factors. The objectives of this paper is to study the relationship and differences in differentforms of neonatus by comparing the difference between Leptin level , Insulin leveland birthweight , to find the possible functions they are in fatal growth anddevelopment.Object and Method1. ObjectSelect 88 full-term infants dwell department of neonatus in ShanXi children’shospitai, from 2009-09-01 to 2010-05-31 . 44 small for gestational age(SGA)full-terminfants,44 appropriate for gestational age (AGA)full-term infants.Selected standard:eutocia; without choking history andserious illness performance, only swallowsyndrome and mild inhaled syndrome; admission age<24h, Except children whosemother with gestation period hypertention, endocrine disease, severeanaemia, malnutrition, infection, uterine abnormalities, uterine fibroids, abnomaly ofumbilical cord and placenta.2.MethodGet femoral vein blood 2 ml to put in a tube promoting coagulation when theinfants addmited to hospital. Centrifugate 1000r/10min, put the supernatant fluid intorefrigerator under -70℃. Mensurate Leptin and Insulin with ELISA.3.Statitic methodTreat the date with SPSS 17.0 statistic software, represent date with Mean±SD.Analyze the differences between Leptin level and Insulin level with Independent-SampleT Test. Use pearsonn linear correlation to identify the relationship between Leptinlevel and Insulin level and birth weight.ResultsAppropriate for gestational age’s Leptin level were larger than small forgestational age’s(t=-73.624,P<0.01);Appropriate for gestational age’s Insulin werelarger than small gestational age’s (t=-11.729,P<0.01);There was a positivecorrelation between Leptin level and birth weight(r=0.96,P<0.01) ; There was a positive correlation between Insulin level and birth weight(r=0.95,P<0.01) ; Therewas a positive correlation between Leptin level and Insulin level (r=0.85,P<0.01).ConclutionThis paper show that Leptin level and Insulin level increased in larger birthweight (BW)full-term infant as compared with that of smaller BW ones.Leptin andInsulin have positive feedback. Leptin might reflect the regulation of fetal growth anddevelopment with Insulin. To a certain extent ,Leptin and Insulin levels can reflectintrauterine fetal growth situation and play an important role in the regulation ofmetabolism and growth of full-term infants.
