Abstract

Objective: To study the etiology of childhood-onset epilepsy, to discuss the relationship between the thermal history of seizures and epilepsy etiology, clinical features of febrile seizures in patients with epilepsy, analysis the febrile convulsions development for epilepsy risk factors, patients with a history of febrile seizures treatment status. Method: the treatment of epilepsy in the People's Liberation Army General Hospital outpatient clinical data collected from October 2002 to July 2010. From childhood epilepsy patients screened, to sort out the causes of epilepsy occur. Analysis patients with a history of febrile seizures epilepsy clinical onset of the characteristics, influence the the febrile convulsions development for risk factors of epilepsy, and multiple linear regression analysis of risk factors. Statistics medication in patients with a history of febrile seizures. Results: From the 4595 cases of patients screened 1126 cases of the secondary epilepsy patients under the age of 18, summed up its main cause of febrile seizures, perinatal abnormalities, head trauma, intracranial lesions and infection. Febrile seizures accounted for 30.6% of all patients with secondary epilepsy. Drawn by χ ~ 2 test, history of febrile seizures group radiographic abnormalities were significantly higher than those without febrile seizures group, the rate of abnormal EEG no significant difference in the two groups. A history of febrile seizures in patients with epilepsy 59.1% for partial seizures, 40.9% for generalized seizures. The number of febrile seizures occurred within 1 year after the development of 22.6% of patients with epilepsy, followed by an annual average of 17.5 epilepsy, febrile seizures occurred 15 years after the development of epilepsy downward trend. Febrile seizures develop into epilepsy time of <1 year, 1-5 years, 5-10 years,> 10 years, the average number of febrile seizures occur gradually reduced. Patients have a family history of a similar history of kinship with the family more closely the the febrile seizures shorter the time of the development of epilepsy. Epilepsy risk factors affecting febrile convulsions development of multiple linear regression analysis, the starting age of febrile seizures and febrile seizures family history can significantly affect the process of the development of epilepsy. Patients with a history of febrile seizures, epilepsy medication was 65.8%, 143 cases with single drug treatment, 84 cases of multi-drug treatment, the service's new antiepileptic drugs (topiramate, lamotrigine, left levetiracetam) 28 cases, 17 cases of Chinese herb. Drug treatment markedly by 17.6% and 50.7% of the valid, invalid and 31.7%. Conclusion: childhood-onset epilepsy secondary disease because the first febrile seizures, perinatal abnormalities, head trauma, febrile seizures Habitat secondary cause of epilepsy. 2, in patients with epilepsy with febrile seizures, febrile seizures occurred within one year of about 1/5 of patients the development of epilepsy, 15 years after the development of the downward trend of the number of epilepsy. 3, in addition to the number of febrile seizures, family history of epilepsy and secondary abnormalities of these risk factors, the starting age and febrile seizures family history of febrile seizures can significantly affect the process of the development of epilepsy.
