Abstract


Shyness is a common emotional experience, everyone in life may be too shy experience, but long-term excessive shyness, it will become a serious psychological problem. Henderson will shy defined as: uncomfortable in social situations and / or inhibition of a fear of negative evaluation, accompanied by emotional frustration or inhibition will significantly affect participation behavior desired activities or individual and career goals pursuit behavior. If shyness is and the extent appropriate, can be regarded as a normal reaction for specific situations; shy too high or generalization, it will seriously affect the individual's learning, behavior, and life as well as physical and mental health. In recent years, Western psychologists shy of individual problem a lot of research, and achieved fruitful results, the study found that shyness can be manifested in different aspects of the social, cognitive, emotional, and there is a close correlation with self-esteem, domestic shy still at an initial stage. In Eastern culture, usually depending behaved obedient children is the focus of attention of the boy, parents or teachers are often prominent student, that is very smart or making trouble students quiet and well-behaved, shy child, and very little trouble or getting into trouble, there will be no aggressive behavior, its potential is not easy to be aware of, but shy is not to be neglected. This paper attempts to shyness problem of primary school students in-depth discussion, a more comprehensive examination of shyness negative effects, and to remind educators and parents give shy children to devote more attention and support to promote the growth of shy children's physical and mental health theoretical and empirical basis. The shyness problem at home and abroad, the study made a detailed review of the literature, to be in the context of Chinese culture, explore shyness, self-esteem and social adaptation to the relationship between the three variables. The study used questionnaires to explore pupils shyness and self-esteem, the relationship between the social adaptation, the questionnaire used in Taiwan scholar Xu Chunrong prepared pupils shyness scale, the scale will be shy of Investigation is divided into three levels: the behavioral level, cognitive level and emotional level, were measured sheepish behavior performance, a shy cognitive level of consciousness, degree of shyness emotional reactions, has good reliability and validity. The empirical part of the questionnaire study of 584 primary school pupils in Jinan. The conclusions are as follows: 1. Shy demographic variables analysis found that: shy total score and factor scores of men and women were not significantly different (p lt; 0.001 hereinafter the same); primary and secondary school students in different grades shy score and factor on, there are significant differences. After the multiple comparison found that, at the behavioral level, four or five year difference is not significant, sixth grade are significant with higher than four, five grade; cognitive level, fifth and sixth grade differences are not significant with five, sixth grade are significant with high fourth grade; fifth grade on the emotional level, significantly higher than the four grades, the rest of grade difference is not significant with; shy score, fifth and sixth grade differences are not significant with, five, sixth grade, respectively, significantly with higher than four grades; non only son female shyness score and behavioral levels, scores were significantly higher than the one-child emotional level. 2. Shyness and dimensions and self-esteem, social adjustment factor showed a significant negative correlation, self-esteem and social adaptation was significantly positively related to each factor. Mediating effect of self-esteem in pupils between shyness and social adaptation.
