Abstract


In this paper, the author uses the water, which is one thing that human beings need to survive as a starting point and combin with the public sculpture and moreover, based on a systematic research about the function, art, and the ecology. It uses the spirit clues and context, which contains in the material to enfluence the contemporary value orientation and to create a profound Chinese culture language.Sculpture is different from the art of painting. It mainly because sculpture need to use the real material to reflect the author’s creative intention. The material of sculpture changes from thousands years ago’s stone, clay, bronze, wood and so on to the contemproray materials like aluminum, stainless steel, plastic, galss, fiber, which created by the present technology. The join of the new materials enlarge the posibilites that an author may achieve his or her goals. As a result, the role of the material is essential and the future of it is unpredictable.Water is a kind of material that can let the author express the beauty of it as much as possible and enhance the depth and intensity of their works. It can wine the public recognition, express a good concept and enhance the culture value of art so that it can create a new realm of sculpture.The starting point of this research is the concept of natural landscape and it found a balance between mountains-and-water culture and environmental design. Moreover, it descovered communication point between the media of modern public sculpture and water. On the basis of traditional sculpture method, techniques and aesthetic approach to interpret it and using the contemporary ways of thinking and aesthetic concepts, adding new elements and materials to interpret the concept of traditional sculpture. It uses the combination of water and traditioanl materials of sculpture, trying to use Chinese to gain material resources and ideas and spirtual support from a philosophical, social and even cultural precipitation. In this paper, considering social factors, design factors (including art) and technical factors I analyze the water in a variety of natural and man-made role of external circumstances as the media presented various manifestations and the feelings of the interaction between the public .
