Abstract


Nathaniel Hawthorne is the impact of the greatest romantic novelist , in the United States in the 19th century the history of American literature , writing a short story writer . His work is highly praised by many critics . His representative works , \The authors use the archetypal criticism , to proceed from the character of the work , the structure and plot , made ??a detailed analysis of the Bible hidden in \In this thesis, a total of four chapters . First chapter briefly introduces Hawthorne and his works in American literature , as well as \From the main characters in the novel , the second chapter , analyzes them behind the Bible character archetype . , Epitomized in the Hester and Dimmesdale body , divided into three categories: Adam - Eve prototype ; scapegoat prototype consists of Hester and Dimmesdale and Chillingworth Worth and is reflected in the body Chillingworth Worth Satan prototype . The third chapter analyzes the narrative structure of the novel \Chapter IV concludes the paper and pointed out that the archetypal criticism also applies to the Analysis of the other characters in the novel .
