Abstract


In urban environment, informal street space is a common phenomenon. On the streets, there are a number of illegal activities under the city management, that are, addition the balcony,traveling about selling wares, repairing shoe booth in a corner and selling small ornamentation on the bridge, et cetera. Furthermore,in urban planning world there is no place for these scene. Why is the scene here? Why does force the cancellation, but the growth everywhere? Is imperfect management or lack of planning and design? This is the origin of this thesis.There are a lot of informal phenomena in spontaneous settlements of Hanzheng street in Wuhan. In history street space in the region was gradually built by the power from non-official. And in modern times, because of the lack of formal management, residents illegal useing an area in business, street unlimited compression and the use of high-intensity space, and these sence forms unique informal street space. Compared with formal street space, there is the earth-shaking difference, but a unique beauty.Thesis taking the informal behavior of residents of spontanous settlements in Hanzheng street as an entry point, and the change of street space under behavior activity for study object, attempt to explain the internal logic of informal street space, then reveal the profound significance of informal phenomenon among the street space for the city.Thesis taking "behavior" - "space" for logic of language, explain in detail the reason, type and characteristics of informal behavior. In addition, elaborate the process of informal street space of spontanous settlements in Hanzheng street, focusing on the structure, form and useing of street space as an example. Through case selection, classification and analysis, describe the characteristics of informal street space, diversity, complexity and composition. Finally explain informal street space as the vector of urban culture is the gradual development and the dynamic balance. In conclusion, the emphasis is on that the informal street space is reasonable and necessary for the street improvement and development of the city. Stress informal behavior is not illegal and a strong complement for the formal behavior. Government should promote and encourage. Moreover give the recommendations and guidelines for urban management and street space, and the purpose is mixing the normal street space with the informal street space from the management and planning method. Allow sufficient flexibility for informal street space and make it from a single order in the urban chaos into a higher level of order.
