Abstract

The olfactory system is an important part of the mammalian body. Olfactory neurons (oilactory receptorneurons, 0RNs) is one neurons of the olfactory system, and only exist in the neurons of the olfactory epithelium. Is the only direct contact with the external environment of neurons in the central nervous system, 0RNs this the features make 0RNs vulnerable to injury, the external environment, bacteria, viruses, toxic molecules as well as physical damage portion may cause 0RNs apoptosis. The clearance of these apoptotic 0RNs 0RNs regeneration, updates of important significance. However, they are in the body, how to be cleared, is still unclear. Therefore, the research process and its mechanisms the apoptosis 0RNs cleared, will help to clarify 0RNs lifetime can be regenerated to update this particular phenomenon, and to lay the foundation for insight into the function of the olfactory system and its regulation. Olfactory ensheathing cells (olfactorty ensheathing cells, 0Ecs) is specific to a class of glial cells in the olfactory system, it also has some of the characteristics of Schwann cells and astrocytes. Olfactory system, 0Ecs of projections in the outer periphery of the olfactory nerve bundles form a loose parcel. Recent studies suggest that, 0Ecs may have some of the characteristics of the immune cells. Carry out further in-depth study for 0Ecs biological function, to clarify 0Ecs similar phagocytic function of macrophages in the immune system, play a role in whether in apoptosis 0RNs cleanup process, which will have important significance. In this issue, we focus on 0Ecs phagocytosis and its clear role in apoptosis 0RNs expand research found 0Ecs have similar macrophage phagocytic function, the through express phosphatidyl serine the receptor (phosphatidylserlne receptoi ', PsR) and eversion of phosphatidylserine (phosphatidylserlne, Ps) in the surface of apoptotic cells binding, recognition, phagocytosis, clear apoptosis in 0RNs. The specific results achieved are as follows: 1 in vitro experiments, we significantly done by confocal the mirror three imaging technology, found 0Ecs can devour apoptosis 0RNs. 20Ecs not only capable of phagocytosis of apoptotic 0RNs, can also be swallowed Staurosporlne induced apoptosis in cortical neurons. The 30Ecs devoured 0RNs debris can the lysosomal membrane specific marker LAMPl marked in. The expression PsR 4 in vivo and in vitro experiments the Ministry confirmed 0Ecs on. 0Ecs mediated by the expression of the PSR to engulf apoptotic 0RNs or cortical neurons. 5 in frozen sections of normal adult mouse olfactory mucosa observed the axons of 0RNs to 0Ecs phagocytosis of apoptotic debris.
