Abstract


Reading is an important part of teaching high school English, being the most important one of the four basic skills students must master. High school reading classroom there are a lot of problems, such as students' reading slow, low ability to understand. The solution to the problem lies in how to read teaching theory and advanced teaching methods to the teaching of reading practice, in order to adapt our teaching situation, meet the actual needs of the students, and build on this basis has the personality characteristics of teachers teaching reading mode. Action research as one of the means to solve teaching out of touch with the field of theoretical research problem, the best method is now generally recognized high school teachers participated in the study of foreign language teaching and research. This approach encourages teachers as researchers, to put forward their own teaching theory, to pursue their own professional development in the teaching process. In this study, action research method used in our high school English teaching reading. First, through questionnaires and pre-test analysis of the high school students in English reading level, investigation and analysis of the feasibility of a high school English reading classroom action research. The proposed assumptions that affect the ability of students to read, and for assuming a 13 in the four aspects of the experimental class - Weihai, a high three classes - students from the vocabulary, background knowledge, reading strategies, and extracurricular reading weeks of action research, intended to improve their reading ability. Finally, reflect on the action to study the effect of the actual teaching of reading, and and through the the comparative experimental classes and control classes posttest data, further demonstrated this approach has a positive impact on improving English reading ability of high school students. The results show that the average score of the experimental class was significantly higher than the control classes, students guess the meaning of a word and reading strategies skills use significantly improved background knowledge expanded the extracurricular reading more widely. Visible, action research is an effective way to improve the reading ability of Chinese high school students in English, it is not only able to solve the problem of gap between teaching and research, but also to promote the professional development of teachers. However, due to the limitations of time and conditions of this study, there is still inadequate. For example, this article only focuses on training the four main factors that affect high school students to read. However, through the study of the action, the reading ability of students, teachers, theory and practical ability has been greatly improved. Moreover, action research provides teachers with the theory and practice ways to promote the professional development of teachers.
