Abstract


Brian Castro is the Australia of Chinese literary world 's most distinguished writer, one of the most creative , and most of his novels are on the theme of immigration , and with China 's culture and history have close contact . This paper aims to use Edward Said 's Orientalism theory to interpret their work, \Depth analysis of the theme from the following three perspectives : Eurocentric narrative strategy ; misreading the inherent bias of the Chinese people and the Chinese culture . The text is divided into three parts , including the introduction, body and conclusion . Introduction includes four parts: First the Shanghai Dance \Orientalism theoretical analysis of the feasibility and significance of the work of the Department to do a summary of this framework structure . Chapter three Eurocentric narrative strategies in text analysis . The first part of the Eurocentric focus on interpretation of the story of the second part of the keynote ; expose the haughty attitude of writing presented detached tone . The second chapter of the stereotype of Chinese people in the West . Each of the various characters in the extended family in the novel is based on the theory of Orientalism , trying to restore its true voice . This chapter also pointed out that the Chinese women in the novel and the Chinese men were described as the author 's pen fallen , the edge of the figure . Chapter elaborate misreading of novel writing in Chinese culture . Pointed out that this part of the Chinese culture by Westerners as \Based on each chapter , the last part is a summary of the entire paper . Is based on the theory of Orientalism Edward Said , this paper aims to show that the of Brian Castro Shanghai Dance is a typical oriental tendencies works . By reading , we can see that in the text of the novel the the implied cultural hegemony and ethnocentrism and of strong Orientalism complex .
