Abstract

Discourse Analysis from the twentieth century, the first occurrence of the fifties to the present, regardless of its theory and its scope have been a great development. Methods of continuous improvement and innovation. Object of study from the beginning of the text discourse , advertising , dialogue , and now multi-modal discourse , the researchers in this field have made a lot of achievements . Textbook as a transfer of knowledge and culture is an important means of gaining their research scholars. Recent years due to information technology and word processing technology continues to evolve , textbook writing also appeared in varying degrees of multi- modal characteristics ; textbook for this feature of its multi- modal discourse analysis is a popular research methods . In addition to multi- mode refers to the text , but also with images, charts and other compound words , or more than one symbol for any coding to achieve meaningful text. 1996 Chris and Van Le paper presents the visual grammar, after ten years of correction and improvement of visual syntax has developed into a relatively mature Multimodal discourse analysis theory . This paper mainly Chris and Van Le paper presents the theoretical framework with Joyce visual syntax semiotic theory of complementarity between the text of the existing framework of the \analysis . The main purpose of this study was to answer the following questions: ( 1 ) English textbooks as a multi -modal discourse is how to embody the principles of multi-modal texts constitute ? ( 2 ) various symbols in textbooks how resources are shared educational discourse collaboratively construct meaning ? ( 3 ) why \process with the completion of writers use a variety of symbolic meaning of the expression ; various symbols together to complete textbook resources complement each other meaning construction , but due to literacy classes and audiovisual lessons on the cultivation of students ' language skills task , students' cognitive characteristics different editors modal choice in the use of resources and symbols displayed on the difference ; college English textbooks on analysis and research beneficial to ten cultivate the diverse reading ability .
