Abstract


This thesis from the following two aspects to carry out a comparative analysis of English and Chinese time system. On the one hand, through the analysis of English and Chinese vocabulary to express its semantic structure of the concept of time, we have come to the four basic vocabulary significance of the concept of time, that is continuing significance instantaneous sense, the significance of the timing system and body sense. Through comparative analysis, we found that different vocabulary to express time in English and Chinese, but the four basic meaning of vocabulary in both languages ??is the same, which reveals the human build time significant commonalities. On the other hand, the mechanisms we build on the concept of time - metaphorical characterization of the mechanism in the English and Chinese languages, comparative analysis. Since the time of abstract and inaccessible, the humans had to use other, more specific, and the concept of time to build the concept. Were constructed from the time-space metaphor, to build sports metaphor and ontological metaphors build comparative analysis of three aspects of the English-Chinese concept of time, and reveals the time concept built on the similarity of the two languages ??and the differences. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, the main motivation of this thesis, the theory and research purposes, the research framework of meaning and structure of the paper. Chapter II is a literature review, summaries of the results of the previous time research, and pointed out that their study characteristics and inadequacies, and briefly describes the mechanisms and characteristics of conceptual metaphor theory. Third chapter analysis of English and Chinese vocabulary to express its semantic structure of the concept of time, so as to arrive four basic vocabulary meaning of the concept of time, and its comparative analysis. Chapter comparative analysis of the time the concept of the three metaphors in English and Chinese to build mechanisms, spatial metaphors of time to build, build and ontological metaphors build sports metaphor, which reveals their similarities and differences. The fifth chapter is the concluding part of the paper, pointed out the inadequacies of the conclusions of this paper comparison of English and Chinese contribution and papers. Time concept of the system as a basic system of human understanding of the world, has always been the object of liberal arts and sciences disciplines. The time is invisible, intangible, perceived only by the subjective feelings of the people. In fact, humans by nature cyclical and regular exercise and phenomena to perceive time. We recognize that time is the human perception and cognition systems exist in a kind of \But in everyday life, people can easily talk about time. The Cognitive Linguistics think human time perception is internal and subjective. People do not have any contact with the outside world, you can still feel the \Time of abstract and non-and sex does not prevent the human concept of time. On the contrary, it is through other concepts of time to build, This is the metaphor of the concept of time to build the mechanism. This metaphorical construct mechanisms not only reflected in the language level, there are also human cognitive structure. Therefore, the metaphor is not simply a rhetorical, it is a mechanism of the human cognitive system. Time to build and the world through the metaphor is a basic method of the human cognitive system, it has gone deep into the most basic human cognitive structure.
