Abstract


The age difference is very obvious in the second language acquisition process . Many research results show that the age factor is one of the most important individual factors in second language learning . The age factor has been the focus of attention of linguists , and perhaps one of the most controversial one . It is widely believed that when children learn a foreign language , the younger the better . This thesis has been supported by the introduction of second language acquisition research field critical period hypothesis , the critical period hypothesis that language learning has expressly limited period , after this period, it would be difficult to learn a language learners . Penfield and Roberts in 1959 , the first to propose this idea , after Lenneberg in 1967 to accept and play . With the increasing number of international exchanges , China has become unique in the world of English teaching major powers . Primary English teaching has been thriving since the early 1990s , carried out together . Younger age trend of the contact 's current foreign language learning , this paper attempts to study : 1 ) compared to the students started learning English in kindergarten, primary and junior high school students to learn English , their learning starting age and English Acquisition effect exists between the inevitable Contact . 2) younger learners than older learners in second language acquisition has the greater advantage . To conduct a study on the starting age for foreign language learning and learning outcomes of Taiyuan University of Science and Technology, 100 non-English majors , distinguish their different starting age for learning English , and English proficiency test them , including English syntax ability , reading ability and writing ability test , and the test results were analyzed . The results showed that the three groups of students to participate in the experiment , English learning effect there is a clear difference . The students start to learn English at the primary school stage than the other two groups have a distinct advantage. Therefore, we conclude that , in the long run , the earlier students begin learning English relatively late to start learning English students Acquisition effect .
