Abstract

Nationalism is a guarantee to obtain survival and development, but also an efficent way for different communities to communicate among political, cultural and economic fields. This is reflected not only in national relationship but also reflected in the areas with the relationship between domestic nationalities. Nationalism is diverse and complex, it still cannot be defined exactly, no matter from what aspects such as politics,culture and economy, which are just a surface for research and interpretation.Frontier nationalism is based on the long-term observation and thinking about ethnic splitting and violence, especially based on the judgment and refining on domestic nationalism growth and change. Throughout the domestic and abroad, those intense and more frequent local nationalism campaign are moslty broken out in places which are located in the edge of the political center and territory of frontier. It means that these places are not just political, cultural and economic edge, and also geographic frontier, so once people living there meet others with the same ethnicity, it may affect the state’s stability and security. Our country’s frontier nationalism was mainly generated from two aspects:one is minority’s religion; the other is the position charaterized with geo-politics. Another factors, which may strengthen frontier nationalism, are national minority policies, different interpretations for the frontier area’s historic and geography of, international political game, etc. In recent years, it is frontier nationalism activities and influence that has continued to increase. Analyzing the our frontier nationalism problems, we should both base on the above background, and also go beyond formation elements, to find the essences of frontier nationalism problems.The essences include 3 sides:first is that, the relationship among different ethnic groups in frontier areas, goes more tense under the background of social transformation; second is that frontier’s long-standing poverty and inreasingly great gap between frontier areas and other regions; third is the vague bounds between political autonomy and beliefs autonomy. It is the challenges and threats brought by frontier nationalism, that prompte us to look for new ways to govern frontier areas and get rid of traditional management misunderstandings. There’re specifically 4 measures we can take:first is to transform the governance idea’s from high pressure to tender interactin; second is to make diverse culture fit for local development and seperate from politics.; third is to establish a fair and impartial results sharing mechanism; fourth is to build a citizen state and develop group amalgamation and identity politics.Facing the frontier nationalism, the author will not keep still at the above analysis, also try to further study it through below aspects:first is ethnic groups, region and imagination of the community. Our minorities in frontier areas, encounter great chaos resulted by forget and lose their ethnic group identity, which provide theoretical hypothesis and practical basis for my studying. Second is language, knowledge and education policies. Here is mainly discusses language, education, minority’s rights of and nationalism. The third is frontier nationalism’s dissipation. To get rid of frontier area’s marginalize should be the core and key for governance. We should not only make efforts to downplay the ethnic group identity, encourage national fusion and strengthen political identity, eliminate widely existing geographical and psychological frontier thinking and boundaries, devoid traditional thinking ways from center to the edge, and comprehensively integrate national politics, economy and culture system and framework.At last, I will make necessary review and reflection on our national problems: first is that the abuse of national name confused the boundary between political community and cultural community, which impedes establishing national identity. Second is national preferential policies, may strengthen rather than reduced vulnerable position of ethnic minorities, and stopped not promoted the pace of ethnic minority into society. Third is that the root of the current national problem lies in the weakness of national education system, lack of identies between different groups, and the slow pace of ethnic fusion. Fourth is political integration mechanism needs improvement and we should put more attention tothe people’s congress system and the communist party of China, which as a political integration between different nationalities path.
