Abstract


"New Media Art" thrived in the end of twentieth century. It shows us that the development of art, science and technology have been cohered more ever than before. Art productions were gradually displayed as "New Media Art" in front of the audiences in a lot of art shows. Today, artists will not limit themselves in a specific skill. They would like to pursue a new method to combine the science and technology with thematic materials from the thematic notions and objective conditions in exhibition environment. The "New Media Art" will bring the new opportunities for art development definitely.In this article, the author attempts to discuss the small connection between new media art in the context of contemporary culture and chinese contemporary art. This is written by clarifying the definition of new media art, studying cases of new media artist, comparing the history and achievements of new media art in the western countries and china and finally combining author’s own experience and understanding while studying new media art in japan. The purpose is to explore further understanding of new media art and its various display methods.
