Abstract


Objective: To discuss the development of lateral ventricle system of healthy adults in Tibetan' dissertation">Tibetan and han nationality in high altitude area, and discover the differences between the two population above.Materials and Methods: Head MRI scan was carried out in 160 healthy adults from high altitude area. According to the age divided into four groups(18~29yrs, 30~39yrs, 40~49yrs, 50yrs~) ,each group has 40 persons.According to Wu ventricles system measurement, values were measured by MR Flair T2WI.Count the average and the standard deviation of the five head indices: the distance of anterior horn of lateral ventricle, the width of body lateral ventricle, the distance between the ball choroid plexus, the head maximal inner transverse diameter, and the distance between two parietal lobes. Calculate out 4 items of ventricle indices: indices of ventricle, indices of body lateral ventricle width, indices of body lateral ventricle, and indices of anterior horn of lateral ventricle. Contrast the 4 items of ventricle indices and the five head indices between different race, different gender and different age groups. Result: 1.Compare the Han nationality' dissertation">Han nationality with the Tibetan: The significant differences include:the distance between the ball choroid plexus(Han:53.63±3.46mm;Tibetan: 51.53±3.88mm),the width of body lateral ventricle(Han: 31.20±4.20mm;Tibetan: 29.68±4.33mm),the head maximal inner transverse diameter(Han: 132.24±6.82mm; Tibetan:129.37±5.97mm),the distance between two parietaln lobes(Han:155.31±8.55mm;Tibetan: 151.27±7.08mm),the indices of ventricle(Han: 1.68±0.16;Tibetan: 1.62±0.15) (P<0.05)。2.Compare to the two nationalities in the same gender: The significant differences of male include: the distance between the ball choroid plexus(Han:54.74±3.36mm;Tibetan:52.29±3.78mm),the head maximal inner transverse diameter(Han: 135.54±5.77mm; Tibetan:131.05±6.49mm), the distance between two parietal lobes (Han: 160.14±7.70mm; Tibetan:153.82±6.41mm(P<0.05). The significant differences of female include: the distance between the ball choroid plexus(Han:52.47±3.20mm; Tibetan:50.74±3.87mm), indices of ventricle(Han:1.73±0.19; Tibetan:1.64±0.15) (P<0.05).3. Compare to the two nationalities in the same age groups: The significant differences in the group of 18~29yrs include: the width of body lateral ventricle(Han:31.85±3.71mm;Tibetan:28.33±3.93mm),the head maximal inner transverse diameter(Han:135.68±6.14mm Tibetan:132.02±3.89mm),the distance between two parietal lobes(Han:158.44±8.32mm;Tibetan:149.33±8.59mm),the indices of body lateral ventricle width(Han:4.31±0.51;Tibetan:4.77±0.82)(P<0.05). The significant differences in the group of 50yrs~ include the distance between the ball choroid plexus (Han: 53.98±2.93mm; Tibetan: 52.64±2.71mm) (P<0.05).Conclusion: The significant differences between the two nationalitise mainly occurred the group of under 30yrs. MRI can give an objective and quantitative index for clinical and medical image science study, when make a study of anomalous structure of ventricle or ventricle diseases in high altitude area of the two races. Objective: To discover the differences of total intracranial volume, local gray matter volume and white matter volume between the Han nationality and the Tibetan by Voxe l-based Morphometry.Materials and Methods:Head MRI scanning of the fast spoiled gradient echo was carried out to get the 3D T1 structure image in 80 healthy adults, 40 from the Han nationality and 40 from the Tibetan, all from high altitude area (>2200m). The datas were transferred to PC to be normalized,segmented,and smoothed using SPM5.Calculate out the total intracranial volume, gray matter volume and white matter volume and make a 2-sample T-test to analyze the dates above. The local gray matter volume and white matter volume were analyzed by the SPM group statistical analysis.Results:The total intracranial volume, gray matter volume and white matter volume as well as the gray matter faction and white matter faction had no statistical difference between the two nationalities(P>0.05). The volume of local gray matter in the right frontal lobe of anterior central convolution were larger in the group of the Tibetan, when compared with the Han nationality(P<0.001).The local white matter volume had no significant difference between the two nationalities.Conclusion: There was statistical difference on the local gray matter volume between the two nationalities,mainly in the anterior central convolution. Whether the difference related to the pattern of language and behavior remain to further studying.
