Abstract


Objective:This paper aims at exploring the family factors that may affect the prosocial behavior performance of middle school students, and also tries to seek the possible means in improving and promoting prosocial behavior. Methods:Mixed methods is applied in this paper.Through quantitative research of 298 middle school students in the first part, focusing on data collection and analysis; the second part uses semi-structured interview, in order to search for depth exploration of family factors.ResultS:①Demographic factors,especially gender of students, mother’s educational degree will affect pro-social behavior;②Emotional dimension is the core factor of pro-social behavior;③Parents are children’s role model, and parents’pro-social behavior has a direct impact on their children’s prosocial behavior;③Family Communication has a significant effect on children’s pro-social behavior. Good communication is the basis for a harmonious family atmosphere which is conducive to the development of pro-social behavior;④Family obligation is an important factor. A clear division of labor and discipline of the family will be helpful to the development of children’s pro-social behavior;⑤A good social support system is conducive to the development of students’s pro-social behavior;⑥Pro-family culture of middle school students has significant influence on social behavior.Conclusion:①Emotional development is key factor in promoting the pro-social behavior of middle-school students;②Pro-social behavior of girls is more often than of boys,so it is important to pay more attention to boys in promoting prosocial behavior;③The degree of the mother has significant impact on children’s prosocial behavior in Openness and Compliance;④Good communication among family members, clear assignment of family responsibilities and positive family culture are all important factors in promoting pro-social behavior of middle school students.
