Abstract

Electrospinning is a direct and relatively simple method of preparing ultrafine fibers, dueto low production costs, low pollution, a wide variety of materials and small diameter fibers, resulting in a extensive application in such many areas as filter and biomedical materials.Diameter of the fibrous filter materials obtained by traditional methods is usually a few toseveral hundred microns, while the electrospun fiber diameter is usually in tens of nanometersto several microns, and ultrafine fibers can lead to larger surface areas, smaller pore sizes, higher porosity and better filtering effect. In this paper, the hardwood and aramid weredissolved in LiCl / DMAc solvent, and mat of ultrafine fiber were obtained through thecontrol of electrostatic spinning technological conditions, and finally further treatment wasexecuted to stabilize membrane morphology and structure. In this paper, the dissolution conditions of aramid, influence factors of solution viscosityand conductivity were investigated. Solution concentration and process parameters on theelectrospun membrane morphology, mechanical properties and permeability properties werestudied in detail. Composition of electrospun membrane was investigated by FT-IR. Themorphology and diameter distribution of fiber mat were characterized by scanning electronmicroscope (SEM). Tensile stress, bursting stress and permeability property of aramidmembrane were measured by relative testing instrumentsExperimental results show that with increasing temperature, increasing concentration oflithium chloride and decreasing concentration aramid, aramid dissolution performance canenhance accordingly. Appropriate dissolved concentration of aramid is no more than 12wt%,concentration of lithium chloride is no more than 10wt% and temperature is in the range of 80℃-100℃. Aramid concentration play a important role in viscosity and conductivity ofsolution, which therefore will influence electrospinning performance of aramid solution.Solution concentration, electrospinning voltage, receiving distance and velocity of solutionplay important roles for morphology size and distribution arrangement of aramid fiber mat, which affects structure and mechanical properties of aramid membrane. Electrospun aramidfilm have permeable structure and good strength performance, and its fiber diameter is among100nanometers and 1micron while rollers are used to collect fibers. After drying and soakingbath, most residual solvent can be removed, thus the stability of structure and properties canincrease. With addition of a small amount of dissolved hardwood fiber into aramid solution, electrospun membrane with good morphology fibers is still reached by controlling spinning conditions.
