Abstract

This experiment was conducted to study the effects of under-nutrition and compensation with different energy and protein on body weight and viscerct weight of Mongolian lambs. Eighty Mongolian lambs with average body wight of 14.55 kg were choosed and divided into four equal groups, The nutrition level of the diets during under-nutrition period were ME:10.88 MJ/kg, CP: 15% for control group (CG); ME:10.88 MJ/kg, CP: 10% for restricted group 1 (RG 1); ME:9.41 MJ/kg, CP: 10% for restricted group 2 (RG 2); and ME: 8.62 MJ/kg, CP:5.7% for restricted group 3 (RG 3), respectively. Lambs in each group were offered the same diet (ME:9.75 MJ/ kg; CP: 12%) during compensation period. The feed restricted period was eight weeks and the feed compensatory period was thirteen weeks with same. The results were showed as follows:(1) Lambs had the ability of compensatory growth. at the feed restricted period(2) The body weight of lambs in RG1 and RG2 had compensatory growth completely, and the body weight of lambs in RG3 had certain compensatory potency in the conpensation period.(3) The weight of heart, liver, lung, kidney, spleen, rumen, reticulum and omasum decreased with the increased of feed restricted at the end of feed restricted period.(4) The weight of heart, liver, lung, kidney, spleen, rumen, reticulum and omasum had compensatory growth completely in the conpensation period.(5) The preserving percentages of nitrogen and calcium, and the digestion percentages of ADF and NDF in lambs decreased with the increased of feed restricted, but the preserving percentage of phosphorus in lambs did not change in the mid of feed restricted.(6) The preserving percentages of nitrogen and calcium, and the digestion percentages of ADF and NDF in lambs increased with the increased of feed restricted, but the preserving percentage of phosphorus in lambs did not change in the conpensation period.
