Abstract
|
Wheat stripe (yellow) rust caused by Puccinia striiformis Westend f.sp. tritici (Pst) is one of the most destructive disease of wheat in China, It has lately been validated in the greenhouse that Berberis spp. serves as alternate (or aecial) host for P. striiformis. The impact of environment factors, growth stage, and wheat cultivars on the tetial stage of Pst was tested in this study. Results of our research are as follows.Different environment factors are significant in inducing telial stage of Puccinia striiformis.25℃, 75%,12001x and 12h is the sutiable environment factors to induce telials.Higher temperature induced to occur the telial stage of Pst in less time, and produce more telials within the temperature range of 8℃to 25℃. But higher than 25℃is not conducive to produce telial.Different growth stages significantly induced the occurrence of telial stage of Pst. Wheat seedling took less time for the peak of telial stage of Pst than that at adult plant stage, and more telial amounts of Pst for the peak of telial stage of Pst was observed than that at adult plant stage.Different wheat cultivars are significant in inducing telial stage of Pst. It took less time for the occurrence of telial stage of Pst and produced less tetial amounts on the moderate resistance cultivars against stipe rust than that on the susceptible cultivars and slow rusting cultivars..The results above-mentioned would provide a valuable aid to further understand the inducing factors of the telial stage of Pst. However, its functions in the disease epidemiology is still kept open.
