Abstract


Traditional anti-coagulant drugs which only included warfarin and heparin was single, and two types of drugs all had strong side effects. Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng and Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng products had been used to treat and prevent hypercoagulable state blood diseases, studies showed that Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Radix Panacis Quinquefolii and Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng extracts all had the role of extension of clotting time. However, the three herbs from Panax which have similar active ingredients, have different property of medicine and indications.Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng products had a strong anti-platelet activity, Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng was the second, and Radix Panacis Quinquefolii was the worst. The order of anti-thrombotic activity from strong to weak was Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng, Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng and Radix Panacis Quinquefolii. Not only platelets participated in the process of blood coagulation and thrombus formation, but also coagulation factors in plasma were involved in the process. Therefore, the water decoction of Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Radix Panacis Quinquefolii and Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng were analyzed on the effects of APTT, PT and TT, thus the anti-coagulant activity of the three herbs were defined. Combining with anti-platelet and anti-thrombotic activity of the three herbs, the property of medicine of the three herbs were analyzed.Ginsenoside Rgl and Rg2 were the common ingredients of Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Radix Panacis Quinquefolii and Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng which had strong anti-platelet and anti-thrombotic activity. Therefore ginsenoside Rgl and Rg2 were analyzed on the effects of APTT, PT and TT, thus the anti-coagulant activity of the two ginsenosides were defined. Combining with anti-platelet and anti-thrombotic activity of the two ginsenosides and the contents in the three herbs, the diversities of the anti-coagulant activity and the property of medicine were analyzed on the principles.The results were as follows:1.The water extracts of Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Radix Panacis Quinquefolii and Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng all had anti-coagulant activity, the order from strong to weak was Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng, Radix Panacis Quinquefolii. And the anti-coagulant extended percentage of Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng was up to 14%.2.High concentration of water extract of Radix Panacis Quinquefolii and Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng had the activity to shorten APTT, which related to the role of stopping bleeding. Dencichine which was the stopping bleeding active ingredient of Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng would be dissolution when it was heated. Thus the pro-coagulant activity of the water decoction of Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng was weaker than Radix Panacis Quinquefolii.3.Ginsenoside Rgl and Rg2 all had anti-coagulant activity, and the anti-coagulant activity of ginsenoside Rg2 was stronger than ginsenoside Rgl. The anti-coagulant activities of the two Ginsenosides were higher than the water extracts of Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Radix Panacis Quinquefolii and Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng, and the anti-coagulant extended percentage of ginsenoside Rg2 was up to 21%.4.When the anti-coagulant effect of Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Radix Panacis Quinquefolii, Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng Panax was used, the dose had to be considered, or too high dose would lead to decrease the activity.5.It was verified that the property of medicine order of the three herbs from warm to cool was Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng, Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng and Radix Panacis Quinquefolii.
