Abstract


With the introduction of Buddhism in China, accompanied by the impact and integration of traditional Chinese culture continuously, it has gradually been a significant part of Chinese culture prosperity. Buddhist scriptures are voluminous and their contents are profound. Among all the scriptures translated into China, Vajra-Sutra is the most widespread, impressive and mostly contributing to our traditional culture as well.Although composed earlier, Vajra-Sutra which belongs to the classic Mahayana Buddhism thinking classes, covers the basic idea of the later Mahayana. First of all, The Vajra-Sutra has constructed a complete "time and space" system of universe, in which the idea of time infinity of the universe is reflected on the concept of "kalpa", in which the idea of spatial expense of the universe is reflected on the concept of "mass". Thus, those two concepts combine to co-express the view of the time infinity and spatial expanse in the universe. Secondly, The Vajra-Sutra includes relatively complete and thorough Sunyata thoughts, which requires people not only pay attention to the "things existed and the requirements of ourselves",but also be "Esau phase broken hold". Through the whole scripture of the Vajra-Sutra, the core idea is "seeing the nature through appearance" and "abiding in an object and giving rise to thought", which requires people break the things that people could see, the matters created by the abstractions, and the cocoro created in the process of break, to reach the state of no break and no impedence. In addition, the Vajra-Sutra is in the form of initial concepts of Buddha nature. Buddha nature, as one of the most basic concepts of Mahayana, and the first and the most foremost answer to the theory of Mahayana, mainly discussed the causes and possibilities of whether people could be the Buddha or not. The views, "studying the nature of the world and being the Buddha" and "leniency being the nature of Buddha", are in the early form of later Buddha-gotra thought and make great impact on it, though the view couldn’t belong to the viewpoint of Buddha nature in the strict sense. Finally, the Vajra-Sutra has its own unique method of the understanding of mind, of which the main expression is the early stage (surface phenomenon), further stage(read the essence) and final stage(regard the matter indifferently), playing positive role in getting away with self-confusion, in getting rid of mind constraints. The Vajra-Sutra, as one of the most classic scripture in the development of Buddhism, composed of the Sunyata thought and special method of understanding, makes a positive difference in the final form of the ideology of the Mean in the View-School in Indian Buddhism.Meanwhile, the core idea of "seeing through the nature of the matters and not clinging to illusory image" of the Vajra-Sutra has a profoundly historical influence on the core liberation principle of Chinese Zen Buddhism -- devoid of mind, seeing through the nature, free from constraints".
