Abstract


Folk songs, whose origination and spreading can not be separated from specific circumstances and areas, are the artistic embodiment of a region’s geography, history, people’s living and production modes, religion, custom, language and etc.It just resembles any other cultural form but all can not detach themselves from particular geographical environments and their creators. For instance, our most mentioned folk features such as the grace, frankness, exquisite and roughness are all directly related to different geographical environments and differed folks who at the same time created and expanded these varied cultural traits.Inner Mongolian Tumoteyouqi County’s field ballad is an existing example of folk songs and it originated from the mainland farming culture and Tumote Mongolians’ nomadic culture. In Chinese, it is called "Shan Qur", which has been a conventional title for all the folk songs even in surrounding areas. "Shan" here means the fields or the vast fertile plains there, which have been an ideal place for people who have migrated from neighboring Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces to plant and settle down in the past centuries. "Qur" refers to melodies.This article is dedicated to studies in the linguistic features of Tumoteyouqi County inhabitants’language as well as Shan Qur’s melodic, libretto characteristics and the integration of its lyrics and melodies.So far, we can feel all the time that some traditional cultural phenomena around us are withering and even disappearing, but new ones also gradually come into being after absorbing and combining external elements. But people are generally nostalgic and we do not want the cultures in which we grow up to fade away. That’s why I made the survey but the existing state of Tumoteyouqi County’s "Shan Qur" is far better than what I have imagined.But for field ballads’sustenance and further expansion, I came up with several suggestions and I am positive towards its prospects. Currently, "Shan Qur" has maintained its sparkling glows despite the impacts from multiple external cultures. It has fused into people’s life and aroused attention of relevant scholars and the government. Its vitality mirrored not only people’s acknowledgment over the traditional culture but also the unique and classic artistic height of "Shan Qur".
