Abstract


Into the 21st century, \International Chinese teaching as part of the second language teaching in the world, is rapidly open outwards branches and leaves. The teaching of Chinese characters has attracted much attention as an important part of the international Chinese teaching. How to teach Chinese characters into academic issues under discussion. Want to learn Chinese, learn Chinese characters is the key. However, in the process of the development of Chinese teaching today \In view of this, we need to study for the teaching of Chinese characters in Malaysia. Currently, Malaysia for non-native speakers of Chinese nationals to provide Chinese language teaching in educational institutions, the most authoritative and representative institutions, none other than non-Mara Polytechnic University. Mara Technology University (UiTm) a run for indigenous University in Malaysia, Malaysia only expressly provides that \Universiti Teknologi Mara, many students choose Chinese as a third language. Investigation and Analysis of its significance Mara process students learning Chinese characters. In this study, the following four areas to investigate: Malay learners to learn Chinese background and motivation, interest in learning Chinese characters, cognitive and self-learning of Chinese characters and Chinese characters of necessity and usefulness of analysis of Mara technology students Chinese characters learning situation, to explore the teaching of the course provides meets the needs of the learners to learn Chinese characters. The object of the survey is 95 Malay students Mara Polytechnic University Elective Chinese. And then eventually identified through the questionnaire tests and Kanji results at the end of the period to learners learning Chinese characters actually achieved results. This survey can provide a number of recommendations for the Malaysian Chinese character teaching and reference, in order to make better adjustments in. The investigation eventually found that the majority of respondents after entering the University came into contact with Chinese elective Chinese motives of Chinese as a future job value-added language or interested in Chinese. The respondents were generally interested in Chinese characters, but only a few people outside the classroom have the opportunity to contact with Chinese characters. Channels of contact with Chinese characters mainly from shop signs, trade names and leaflets. In writing Chinese characters, the ability of learners to write Chinese characters is quite unsatisfactory.
