He focused to the before-modern civilization with full of the breath of life, stubborn with a "hillbilly" eyes and saw the modern civilization in promoting the progress of mankind also brings a human loss, All of time see the alienation of humanity phenomenon. in the course of modernization of mankind. He carry own humanity banner in the popular of revolution literature with inappropriate, and with a straightforward, plain "hillbilly" build up own humanity temple. Shen congwen determined by "hillbilly" the identity, this self-definition, in fact shows that shen congwen has chosen a unique perspective that in modern urban civilization edge. Therefore, he used to view the urban with a Angle of view and mentality, and conducted a marginal writing. Shen congwen clearly see the impact of modern civilization city life scenes with in own life experience for many years in urban, and reconsiders the negative influence of modern civilization with own city works as the breakthrough point, which showed a modern intellectual had the critical spirit and introspection consciousness. This chapter mainly through attentive to settle his urban creative edge mentality and the formation of edge Angle, and expounds shen congwen’s alternative writing for urban life, dig his urban deep meaning and value creation, thus have vital significance to fully understand the creation of shen cong-wen.
