Abstract

The global financial crisis triggered by America’s subprime mortgage crisis further exposes the drawback existing in international reserve currency system. Reconstruction of the international reserve currency system to establish a new fair and rational international reserve currency order plays a significant role in preventing global financial risks and in maintaining the stability of international financial order. There are mainly three plans to restructure the international reserve currency system:one is to restore Gold Standard System, one is to establish super sovereignty reserve currency system, and one is to construct diversified international reserve currency system. Based on the current global political and economic diversification pattern and future trend of development, it is an optimal choice to choose the reconstruction of diversified international reserve currency system, which can keep dynamic balance of the international reserve currency through the competition of several major currencies. While the establishment and operation of diversified system requires legal mechanism to support and protect, requires matured organization mechanism to take the management, requires completed admittance and elimination mechanism to keep its vitality, as well as matured supervision mechanism and scientific stability mechanism to prevent currency crisis and maintain the fairness and stability of the international monetary order. Upon the moment of the restructuring of the international reserve currency system, China, as the second largest economic body, shall seize the opportunity to construct perfect legal environment for the RMB’s internationalization and finally becoming one of international reserve currency.
