Abstract


Efficiency is one of the key issues in the economic research, improving production efficiency is a fundamental way to realize the transformation of economy growth way form extensive to intensive. In recent years, high stars Hotel has increased rapidly and large number of foreign hotels has got into chinese market, the competition in high stars Hotel industry is unprcedented intense, situation is very grim. It has extraordinary strategic significance to evaluate efficiency of high stars hotel scientifically, and find the key factors which influence efficiency of the high stars hotel industry. Improve efficiency and realize high Stars Hotel industry sustainable development is very important.In this theis, the author analyse the concept of efficiency and measurement methods systematically. Then use Data Envelopment Analysis detailly analyse technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of china’s three coastal economic areas. Moreover use Malmquist index, which is the measurement of dynamic changes of efficiency, measure the technological changes and technical efficicency indicators changes in 2000-2009. On the basis of efficiency evaluation, analyzed the external factors and internal factors which effect the high stars hotel industry efficiency. The results show that: high stars hotel industry’s overall efficiency in china’s three coastal economic areas is relatively high, but exist differences in the internal, the four Stars Hotel’s efficiency is better than five Stars Hotel. the Malmquist index analysis shows production efficiency increase by 1.3% during ten years, the development of the hotel industry basically rely on technical efficiency index increasement, instead of technology progress, By the tobit model, thesis analyze that the competition level, enterprise scale and regional factor have relation to the high Stars Hotel industry’s efficiency.At last, the paper gives some suggestions and summarize the deficiencies.
