Abstract


As the importance and high efficiency of the automation testing skills, the automation testing tools will be increasingly applied to software testing area. Currently, there are lots of automation testing tools used in large-scale project such as IBM RFT, RPT, HP QTP, Load Runner, Win runner and etc... These tools perform lots of advantages in functional and performance aspect compared to manual testing. However, these tools still have lots of restriction when they are used in real-project.The thesis focuses on researching the restriction of the automation testing tools -IBM Rational Functional Tester and designing a fully functioning automation test script on it. Following is the realized function point of the script.1.The system devise several ways to implement controlling application objects, include object recognition, object-map storage, script storage, object extraction and handle abnormal objects.2.The system can cover test operation on objects; handle unexpected windows during testing and timing control problems.3.The system redesign test data storage tool-Data pool.4.The system redesign the log file to add some customized information such as Test Objectives, Prerequisite, Test Steps, Expected Results, Actual Results and Test Result.5.The system connects to application database with JDBC skill and implements database automation testing from inserting, updating and querying the data.6.The system has designed a final test report and sends the test result to all the related members from mail.
