Abstract


Western scholars since the 1960s , the study of the impact of a lot of self- learning ability of the students on their learning and to explore how to help learners to establish and improve their self- learning ability . Based on theoretical and experimental research in the West , the Chinese school in the late 1970s began to focus on the study of self- learning ability . Some researchers will emphasize teaching , compared the effects of independent learning teaching method and traditional teaching methods . Some researchers to explore the cultural factors that hinder the development of students ' self- learning ability . And the creation and development of the English network course so that the majority of teachers pay more attention to the cultivation of students ' self- learning ability . However , fresh research to investigate the actual situation of the self - learning ability of English learners in China . In addition , research on the specific impact of the degree of self- learning ability of students to learn their English is also one of the few . The previous study also showed that students' self - concept is related to their academic performance . Many studies have shown that there is a correlation of academic self-concept and academic achievement ; research to explore the impact of the order of between academic self-concept and academic achievement . Because there are differences in self-concept of the self-concept of the Chinese people and Westerners , it is necessary to the Western research experience combined with the actual situation in China , in order to explore the possible relationship between self - concept and Chinese students learning English . This study assumes that there is a positive correlation between the student 's self- learning ability and self- concept of their English scores . Studies have shown that there is a moderate correlation between the students self - learning ability and English scores and self - description and English scores between . English teachers can cultivate and improve students' self- learning ability and self-concept to improve teaching achievements to some extent . In addition, there is a certain degree of positive correlation between the students' self- learning ability and self - concept of their English academic changes . Finally, there is moderate positive correlation between the student 's self- learning ability and academic self-concept . Therefore , while also cultivating students ' self- learning ability to develop their self- concept might be able to achieve better teaching results .
