Abstract


As an outstanding president in China and even in the world, Mao Zedong’s social activity and thought on social management extended across two periods: socialist revolution and socialist construction. However, his social activity and thought on social management ran through each field like politics, economy, culture and social life, which possessed a long history, wide-ranging contents and a unique methodology. Thus we should make a deep study on it, and it is a matter of great significance especially under the current condition of deepening reform, widening opening and striving to construct a harmonious society. This thesis selects the period between the foundation of China and the Culture Revolution and probes into the contents of Mao Zedong’s social management thoughts, methodology characteristics and theory on constructing the harmonious socialism society.This thesis consists of four chapters:Chapter one is an introduction, The introduction gives definition of some relevant concepts at first; then reviews the original theory of Mao Zedong’s Social Management Thought. At last, it deals with Mao Zedong’s specific design for social management goal and the process of its establishing.Chapter two focuses on the contents of Mao Zedong’s social management thoughts. Society can be divided into four sub-systems: the economy subsystem, the politics subsystem, the culture subsystem and the society subsystem. Mao Zedong conducted a careful operation and deployment of four subsystems while made a general design for social management goal. This chapter provides a systematic and complete explanation on Mao Zedong’s social management thought, including economic management, administrative management, cultural management and social management (in narrow sense).The third chapter focuses on the characteristics of Mao Zedong’s social management methodology which include the following four aspects: grasping the principal contradiction, not attacking on all fronts; stimulating all positive factors to serve socialist cause; overall planning and all-round consideration, proper arrangement and strengthening the leadership.The last chapter concludes the inspiration upon current construction of harmonious socialism society from Mao Zedong’s social management thought, considering the actual problems came across during building harmonious socialist society.
