Abstract


Recent years in universities often happened some crisis, crisis not only composed a threat to regular teaching of universities, scientific research and the order of normal living, but also made universities suffer from grave damaging of image and reputation, which has direct impact to universities’ stability, reforms and developments. Some of them even caused irreparable losses on the healthy development of the universities and the growth of students. Faced with the fact that crisis may occur at any time, we not only recognize the importance of the day-to-day management of universities, but also know we must emphasis on the prevention and effective solution to the crisis.This research takes S University as an example to discourse on the crisis management of universities. Focus on crisis management and the basic definition of crisis management of universities; Analyse the types and characteristics of university crisis, and the stage of crisis management and treatment guidelines; Through the literature survey of the university crisis and crisis management of the scholars inside and outside the university, putting forward the development trend of the Chinese university crisis and the lack of crisis management and research; Through surveys and interviews to learn and analyse the current situation and existing problems of S Universities’ crisis management; From the community, schools, individual three levels to anatomize the form of university crisis; Further from the community, schools, school-related departments this three levels proposed appropriate countermeasure be taken in crisis management for the S university and other similar schools, including: measures should be taken in Social level, for example : Exploring the road of innovation of the legal system, construction a system of legal protection of crisis management; Changes the guiding ideology in crisis management, establish a "campus security concept" concept; Strengthen the comprehensive management of the environment surrounding the campus, reduce the incentive for crisis. Measures should be taken in school level, for example: Improve the university crisis management mechanism, enhance the capabilities of University crisis management, strengthen the construction "Green Campus", carry out active and effective crisis prevention. Measures should be taken in school-related departments level, for example: necessarily to strengthen the macro-control of crisis management, strengthen the students’ mental health education, strengthen the building of the campus safety culture, strengthen the students’ ideological and political work, enhance the management of student apartments, restaurants and so on. University security departments should play the role of leaders in university crisis management etc.
