Abstract


Along with the continuous deepening of China’s reform and opening up, Retail Industry has developed greatly. And supermarkets grow rapidly as an important component of retail industry. Supermarkets have gradually become an important part of people’s daily life in China. How to improve the working enthusiasm of the staff is a problem that many supermarket managers have to face and solve.Performance management provides a motivation mechanism to improve staff performance. The basic function and value of performance management is that it is incentive. Many supermarkets also have their own performance management system, but it failed to be effective. So it has theoretical and practical significance to research the motivation mechanism of staff performance management currently in China, allow for this perspective, this thesis will discuss how performance management play the role of motivation and the ways to improve its effect, so as to motivate the enthusiasm of the staff.The data acquisition method this thesis uses is mainly interview and questionnaire survey. And use correlation analysis, regression analysis and so on to process the data. The results show that throughout the performance management circle, every stage has a remarkable impact on the motivation mechanism. We can improve the motivation level of the staff by improving performance management circle, so as to improve the performance of all staff.Past researches pay too much attention on performance assessment, this thesis researches on every aspect of performance management and through positivist analysis we can clearly see the effect of every aspect.Based on theory and empirical analysis, the thesis proposes some recommendations about performance management in supermarket, and hope that these suggestions can be useful for the managers of supermarkets.
