Abstract

The pulsating flow in artery with tapered angle is studied in the fields of medical science, biology, biomedical engineering and other subjects. The object of this paper is to study the hemodynamics of the aortic arch and the S-artery with tapered, which is more realistic than the case of equal cross section. By comparing the tapered blood vessel with the equal cross section one, we analyze the velocity, pressure, wall shear stress and velocity and other physical hemodynamic changes, revealing the effect of tapered angle. The results also show the importance of the shape of the blood vessel and caliber in pulsating flow. It provides a more realistic materials and a more reliable analysis. The paper is organized as follows. In chapter 2, we introduce the SPH meshless method for the Navier-Stokes problem. Through the two-dimensional numerical example, it shows that the SPH method is feasible and effective .We consider the three-dimensional numerical simulation of pulsating flow in the aortic arch with tapered in chapter 3.Two aortic arch models, one is tapered and another is equal cross section, are calculated by finite element method. It presents a relative stable results through three periods calculation. Therefore, we obtain the effect of the hemodynamic parameters the pulsating flow in unsteady cases. It indicates that the effect of the tapered angle cannot be ignored in the study of pulsating flow.In chapter 4 it studies three-dimensional numerical simulation of pulsating flow in S-artery with tapered angle. Discretizing two 3D S-artery models, namely one is tapered, another is equal cross section, by the tetrahedron element,we solve these two models by finite element method. By comparing the corresponding numerical results, we reveal that the effect of tapered angle plays a significant impact on hemodynamics of S-shaped arteries. Futhermore, we show that the shape of blood vessel and the diameter of vasaular changes are important factors in the pulsating flow studies.
